After much to-ing and fro-ing, it has been claimed by most of the UK national press over the weekend that a UK version of the Car Scrappage Scheme will be introduced in the budget by Alistair Darling. The scheme aims to offer new car buyers a guaranteed trade-in against a new, cleaner car of £2,000. But it is being suggested that the Government will insist that car manufacturers chip in half this money, with the tax payer paying the other half.
Honda is calling the S660 a concept, but when company president Takanobu Ito took to the stage at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, one of the first things he did was confirm this exciting new small sports car – the spiritual successor to the Honda Beat – will be going into production in 2015. This is great news for Honda, and Ito-san acknowledged a next-generation small sports car has been long awaited by Honda fans, who’ve had little excitement to cheer about since the last Civic Type R and the S2000 roadster were stripped from the model line up. MG's new Chinese owners showed a Nissan Juke-alike concept car called the Icon at the 2012 Beijing motor show. Its footprint is identical to that of the original MG BT. Although a pure concept car, a spokesman confirmed that the study was a guide to what we could expect from future models from MG.
